Colorscape Blog

Autumn has officially arrived and the color palette in the landscape and gardenscape is rich and inviting. I am delighted to return to the gorgeous Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens in Boothbay, Maine to offer my Paint the Autumn Gardens Workshop on October 15 and 16, 2024.

Be inspired by the brilliant colors of autumn and beautiful gardens in this two-day workshop and create vibrant and expressive paintings with pastels. The session is geared for all levels of experience.

The course will introduce beginning artists to pastels with pure pigments that offer the perfect complement to the colorful bounty of nature. For experienced painters, the course offers techniques to loosen up and create painterly works with bold color and mark-making.

Using fun exercises, participants will explore color and value selection, simplified compositions, and mark-making to create expressive garden and landscape paintings. I’ll offer demonstrations and lots of one-on-one attention at the easel. Participants will have lots of time to paint and complete fully developed works.
