The arrival of the summer solstice invites reflection on the gifts of long days and the brilliant light of the season. It is a delight to use an exuberant color palette as I paint this time of year. Using pure and vivid colors in artmaking is my way of celebrating and honoring Mother Nature. “Summer Blues on the Bay” posted here is an example of how bold colors and energetic marks convey the joy of a warm day along the shore.
