Spring Ahead. Color Forward.

Birches Leafing Out with Spring Sky, Diana Rogers
At last, spring has officially arrived! As a landscape painter, I see the natural world through a color-forward lens and spring is the ideal time to give color the starring role in my paintings. Nature starts its renewal slowly with a muted palette and then picks up the pace as the days grow longer. Subtle shades give way to bursts of bright green with hints of red and orange left over from the buds.
In my “neck of the woods,” birch trees are abundant and gorgeous across all seasons. But in the spring, they leaf-out early and the new foliage seems to show off with warm, yellow green and chartreuse colors. On a clear spring day, those greens vibrate against a cobalt sky. In "Birches Leafing Out with Spring Sky,” I captured a joyous moment that comes with a perfect spring day among the birches. These rich hues do not last long as the leaves mature to deeper summer green shades. May your spring season be full of color, lots of good health and joy!
