Among the community of flowers in my gardens, coneflowers enjoy a starring role. The range of colors and unique shape of these gracious flowers offer irresistible subject matter for plein air painting. When painting Coneflowers, Mid-Summer Afternoon I wanted to honor their rich color and the role the flowers play in providing pollinators and birds with nectar and food.
This painting was part of my recent Color by Nature Solo Exhibition at the Essex Meadows Gallery in Essex, CT.
